The Lodge

The lodge View from the Comedor is built from local, sustainable materials and is designed in a traditional style in order to blend in with the surroundings. The main recreational area or comedor is large and airy. It contains a dining area, an area for relaxation in one of the hammocks and a study zone complete with a well stocked library filled with identification books and CDs, general rainforest information and scientific journals. Adjoining the comedor are the bungalows which have two beds per room and shared bathroom facilities with showers and flushing toilets. At night the lodge is lit by candles and kerosene lamps. Solar panels are used just for electricity in the kitchen and to power the communications radio.

The lodge is surrounded by virgin rainforest and guests are often woken Bedroomto the sounds of the Howler monkeys at dawn. Meals are prepared with organic produce from our small farm, and dishes may have a local or international flavour. Fruits such as papaya, mangos and pineapples as well as rice, yucca, plantains, avocados, beans, meats and chicken form an important part of the local diet.

Fish are abundant in the rivers and will be served whenever possible. The cooks are able to offer meals for vegetarians or for people with special dietary requirements.

"The lodge is beautiful, a real trbute to all your hard work and obviously put together with real care and concern and love for the area" Jill Hammond, UK
