| Mission Statement for Tambopata Expeditions & the Piedras Biodiversity Station |
Tambopata Expeditions seeks to understand tropical rainforest ecology and to use the knowledge gained from its research to promote conservation and education thereby making an active contribution towards a sustainable biosphere.
We aim to
To achieve this Piedras Biodiversity Station pledges to operate itself in an ethical and sustainable way, minimising negative impacts on local cultures, environments and economies, whilst working in close conjunction with local people thus providing benefits for them, their society and the environment they live in.
Conduct and host research projects that will influence tropical rainforest conservation.
Establish the Piedras Biodiversity Station as an internationally recognised centre of tropical research and education.
Promote and conserve the rainforest habitat of the River Las Piedras
Publish research in recognised scientific journals
Develop educational programmes for students and visitors.
Use the income generated from hosting research institutions and responsible nature tour operators to promote the station and the conservation of its surroundings
